Abalos’ resignation resolves much of the political noise building up in the country’s body politic in the wake of the NBN controversy and the testimony of Romy Neri. It satiates the appetite for justice and retribution. But this sort of event is really just a twist in the unending political crisis faced by the current administration. It is really just a story unfolding and it doesn’t change the economic equation and make people’s lives better. Unless of course it sparks another coup which will lead to political and economic instability as shown by recent experience. Only then will the noise either yield to reform or throw us further away from economic and political redemption.
